The Westchester County Board of REALTORS® strives to support legislation and regulation at all levels of government that helps consumers achieve their real estate goals and that elevates the practice of real estate as well. As examples, our Board has been instrumental in promoting these consumer-friendly laws that are now in effect in New York: agency disclosure, property conditions disclosure, increased education requirements for real estate licensure, mandatory fair housing training as part of the continuing education of real estate licensees, and prohibition of real estate licenses to sex offenders.

As we support pro-consumer legislation, we also oppose bills that in our judgment would impair the real estate market or create barriers for consumers to own property such as real estate transfer taxes. Legislation and regulation of current interest to the Board is posted under Position Papers.
